6th January,2022.

Gabon have been dealt with a huge blow just three days to the start of AFCON after captain Pierre Emerick Aubamayeng tested positive for COVID-19.

The Arsenal star and Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina are self isolating because of the positive test and could miss all three group C games including the game against Ghana.

Gabon start their tournament with a game against Comoros Island, which the duo are set to miss.

They could potentially miss the match against Ghana and the final group game against Morocco, and the absence of their key men will be huge miss for Gabon.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will be hoping to stay clear of any positive test ahead of their opener against Morocco on Monday.

The Black Stars lost their friendly against Algeria on Wednesday and will leave for the tournament on Thursday from their base in Qatar.
